Building on the success of recent activities in Japan and a new rebrand, we are taking bold steps to accelerate Liquid adoption in Europe through a series of high-impact events this month designed to highlight the network’s potential to transform global capital markets.
As Liquid’s official technical provider, Blockstream will host Liquid Investor Day in Lugano, Switzerland tomorrow—Thursday, October 24—on the eve of the Plan ₿ Summit, one of Europe’s largest Bitcoin gatherings. It will also be a key participant in Thunderstorm, a Plan ₿ side-event taking place later the same day aimed at top executives from the world of traditional finance. Additionally, Blockstream will host a special three-day Liquid Development Bootcamp in Viareggio, Italy, on October 28, aimed at young developers.
Together, these events will shine an important spotlight on Liquid’s role as a foundation for the next era of EU-based capital markets and financial innovation—particularly in the context of regulatory frameworks such as MiCA—with a focus on real-world applications such as asset tokenization and cross-border transactions.
Liquid Investor Day
Supported by key partners such as Fulgur Ventures and STOKR, Liquid Investor Day will be a half-day, invitation-only event exclusively for Liquid Federation members, featuring presentations from industry leaders, including Scott Millar, CEO of SideSwap, Marco Argentieri, CEO of Ark Labs, and Roy Sheinfeld, CEO of Breez. In addition to providing a unique opportunity for networking, the event will highlight some of the latest advances in layer-2 technologies, as well as explore new strategic opportunities for further Liquid integration in industries ranging from finance to real estate over the coming years.
Attendees will also engage in important discussions on collaborative approaches within the Liquid ecosystem, aimed at strengthening the network’s utility for real-world asset tokenization and innovative new decentralized financial products.
Thunderstorm
Following Liquid Investor Day, Blockstream will be a key participant in Thunderstorm, an exclusive Plan ₿ side-event organized by Fulgur Ventures aimed at raising awareness of Bitcoin's potential among banks, financial institutions, VC firms and other relevant stakeholders.
Central to the discussions will be three core themes: the increasing importance of Bitcoin for portfolio diversification and optimization, the opportunities asset tokenization brings to capital markets, and the investment potential of startups developing Bitcoin-based technologies. Thunderstorm will also offer a unique platform for traditional finance executives to understand the strategic benefits of layer-2 technologies—and especially Liquid—in driving operational efficiencies in areas such as cross-border and inter-bank transactions.
Featured speakers will include Dr. Adam Back, CEO of Blockstream, who will explore structured Bitcoin strategies to provide different risk profiles for Bitcoin correlated exposure. Senior Blockstream Business Developer, Adolfo Contreras, will meanwhile share his insights into Liquid’s role in emerging markets, highlighting recent use-cases including Mexican fintech company Mifiel's issuance of digital promissory notes valued to date at over $1.5 billion.
Liquid Development Bootcamp
Rounding this month’s series of events, Blockstream will host the Liquid Development Bootcamp on October 28 in Viareggio, Italy. Aimed at young developers, this intensive, hands-on bootcamp will provide participants with the skills and knowledge needed to build innovative solutions on Liquid. The bootcamp will focus on real-world applications, guiding developers through key aspects of asset tokenization, decentralized finance, and building secure financial products on Bitcoin’s infrastructure.
